Nursery
There’s a special place for our youngest children to be cared for (from infants to children 3 years old) while their parents are attending worship services or are serving or participating in other church ministries. We consider children precious gifts from God and take the responsibility of caring for them seriously.
Staffing
The facilities are staffed on Sunday mornings during the 8:30 and 11:00 worship services and during the 9:45 education hour. The nursery will be open 10 minutes prior to the first worship service and will remain open until 10 minutes after the last worship service.
On Wednesdays the nursery is available from 6:30 pm to 8:20 pm to provide childcare for children with parents serving or participating in ministries.
A staff person is regularly assigned to the area to provide a familiar and happy face to greet the children and parents. Each parent is asked to serve in the nursery area to provide a staffing ratio of 5 children to 1 adult. All volunteers who serve are required to complete an application and training in Oak Haven's Abuse Prevention Plan.
Room Assignments
You will find a quiet room for nursing mothers and sleeping babies, located in the northwest corner of the nursery.
Babies from birth to age 1, have an area on the north side of the nursery.
Children age 1-3 years have a large motor room (southwest corner) and the main nursery area availabe for play.
Nursery Security & Pagers
When you bring your child to the nursery a name tag will be placed on the child and the parent(s). The parent(s) must have this tag when picking up their child. They are also required to sign each child in and out of the room.
Pagers will be assigned when you check in your child. You will be paged if:
- Your child is crying inconsolably for over 10 minutes
- There is a situation that requires your presence.
Well Baby Policy
Our nursery operates on a "well baby" policy. Please do not bring your child if any of these symptoms are present: fever, cough, diarrhea, impetigo, questionable rashes, unclear runny nose, or any contagious illness being treated with antibiotics for less than 24 hours.
Please label all belongings (blanket, bottles, etc) for safety and health reasons.
Contact
If you would like to serve in our nursery or have any questions, ideas, or concerns please contact Caroline Dixon, our nursery coordinator.
